The hotels location was awesome, right in the middle of historic Pelourinho. The workers at the hotel did everything they could do to make sure that we were comfortable. All staff, especially on especially Ramon, was very helpful in making sure my wife and I were satisfied with our stay.
The rooms, although comfortable, were bare minimum. Do not come here thinking that you will be in a luxurious stay b/c it will not happen.

Very well located, at the heart of Pelourinho in a historical building. Good for a hostel. Good breakfast.
No elevator and steep long stairs to get to the second floor. It is a hostel, so do not expect Hotel standards.

Very friendly and helpfull staff (they had taken into account our demand for a quiet room on the booking form), central location (in the Pelourinho), good breakfast, free use of internet pc.
No sound insulation whatsoever between adjacent rooms or between rooms and hallway. In september, this was not much of a problem because there were not many guests and nightlife usually stops at about 23.00 H. But if one happens to have noisy neighbours, this can be a problem.

Very friendly staff.
Mainly bathroom, cleaning, and security. Bathroom: really not nice, old, moldy (I took some pictures, that I will upload here if I manage to know how...). Cleaing: we stayed two nighs, they changed the sheets and towels but didn't clean the bathroom (which, at least for me, is much more important). Security: The area is very beautiful, and this is the best street to stay if you want to stay in the Pleurinho. However, it is not a very secure place, you really need to be carreful. When we arrived, it was around 8 pm, the taxi left us in the Terreiro de Jesus. Just when it stopped, a "crakudo" (a crack addict) came to the taxi, and stayed the whole time telling us he would guide us to the hotel (also while we were paying) and he wouln't go away. He acompanied us, and waited then for a tip. He didn't do anything inapropiate, and was nice, but we could really feel we was aiming the tip for being able afterwards to go for a shot. Of course, even if he was ok, it is not cool to have crakudos near. He also told us that the part of the Pleurinho on the other side of the Terreiro de Jesus wasn't safe, but our are was (if even a "crakudo" say so... better beign carreful!). They are anyways a lot of policemen in the Pleurinho (which means actually it is not a safe place ;) ). I am enphasising on this because I saw no other coments talking about this and I think it is important to point this out. After 10.30-11 pm you have to go back to the hotel, streets are empty, it then gets too dangerous (also, we went in May, low season, this may change in high season??)
